In a much-anticipated revelation, the makers of Naga Chaitanya’s 23rd film, tentatively titled NC23, have unveiled the official title as “Thandel” along with an intriguing first look poster of the actor’s character. The announcement comes just ahead of the actor’s 37th birthday, adding to the excitement surrounding the film.

Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, the film features Sai Pallavi as the female lead, marking their second collaboration after the critically acclaimed 2021 film Love Story. The duo had previously worked together in the 2016 hit Premam and the 2018 film Savyasachi.

The first look poster provides a glimpse into the intense narrative, with Naga Chaitanya depicted on a rugged boat amidst what appears to be a tumultuous storm. Dressed in a simple brown vest and pants, the actor is seen gripping a row, signaling his role as a leader of the fisherfolk community. The caption accompanying the poster reads, “A leader is born to ride against the tide and time for his people; @chay_akkineni in and as #Thandel; The Birthday Celebrations of Yuvasamrat begin early.”

Thandel is reported to be inspired by true events, prompting the film’s team, including Mondeti and Chaitanya, to visit the K Matchilesam village in Srikakulam earlier this year. The purpose of the visit was to immerse themselves in the local culture, lifestyle, and gain insights into the lives of the fishermen, serving as preparation for their roles.

Expressing his excitement about the project, Naga Chaitanya shared that the script immediately caught his attention, and the preparations for the film allowed him to understand the nuances of the fishermen’s lifestyle, body language, and the texture of the village.

Apart from Thandel, Naga Chaitanya is set to make his debut in the web series format with “Dhootha,” a supernatural horror series featuring a stellar ensemble cast, including Parvathy Thiruvothu, Prachi Desai, Priya Bhavani Shankar, and more in prominent roles.

As the first look generates buzz, fans eagerly await more updates on Thandel, promising an engaging cinematic experience with its unique storyline and stellar cast.
