Nag Ashwin Reflects on Convincing SS Rajamouli for Kalki 2898 AD Cameo: ‘Gracious Enough…’

Nag Ashwin’s latest release, Kalki 2898 AD, is a box office sensation, captivating audiences with its star-studded cast including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Rana Daggubati. The film, known for its grand scale and impressive visuals, also features special cameos from eminent filmmakers SS Rajamouli and Ram Gopal Varma.

In a recent interview with The Indian Express, Nag Ashwin shared the process of securing these notable cameos. “I had to convince them (SS Rajamouli and Ram Gopal Varma) and they were gracious enough to come on board to support the film,” he revealed, expressing his heartfelt gratitude.

Amitabh Bachchan’s Stellar Performance as Ashwatthama

During the conversation, Nag Ashwin heaped praise on Amitabh Bachchan, who played the pivotal role of Ashwatthama. The director disclosed that casting Bachchan was a long-cherished dream, and the legendary actor exceeded all expectations. “His performance was exemplary,” Nag commented, highlighting Bachchan’s contribution to the film’s success.

Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan: A Dream Fight Scene

Nag Ashwin also reflected on a memorable moment in the film, the intense fight scenes between Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan. “His fight scenes with Prabhas, who is considered to be one of the biggest action heroes of contemporary cinema, was a dream for us to pull off,” he remarked, describing the experience as surreal for both the cast and crew.

Future Prospects: Kalki 2898 AD Sequel

In a separate discussion with Pinkvilla, Nag Ashwin hinted at the possibility of a sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. He disclosed that the movie was originally conceptualized as a two-part series. Providing an update on the sequel’s progress, he mentioned, “It’s not 60%, I would say. We shot about 25-30 days of the second part, but there’s a lot left to do.”

With its stellar cast, impressive cameos, and potential for a sequel, Kalki 2898 AD continues to capture the imagination of audiences and stands as a testament to Nag Ashwin’s visionary filmmaking.
