Mahakali: HanuMan Director Prasanth Varma Unveils India’s First Female Superhero Film!

Prasanth Varma’s first film from the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), HanuMan, was a blockbuster success. Following this achievement, the filmmaker has announced his second project featuring Nandamuri Balakrishna’s son, Mokshagna. Now, on the auspicious occasion of Navratri, he has officially launched his third film in the PVCU, titled Mahakali.

Mahakali will be set in Bengal, where Goddess Kali is deeply revered by her devotees. This film, expected to be India’s first female superhero project, will be directed by Puja Kolluru.

Making a significant announcement, Prasanth Varma revealed the title of his new film, stating, “Excited to join hands with @RKDStudios to introduce a powerful new force to the universe. Presenting the rise of #MAHAKĀLI – an embodiment of Goddess Kali, the fiercest destroyer of evil. This Navratri, we’re breaking the mold and redefining what a superhero can be.”

In the meantime, the poster for Mahakali features a girl alongside a tiger in a circus setting, with people fleeing in terror as flames engulf the towering Ferris wheel.

According to a report by Times Now, this significant and impactful project will feature a dark-skinned actress in the lead role, portraying Goddess Kali in a bold and refreshing manner.

Mahakali promises to be an epic journey of empowerment, faith, and resilience, drawing inspiration from the powerful yet compassionate nature of Goddess Kali. The film aims to be more than just a cinematic experience; it strives to be a movement for inclusion and representation. Smaran Sai will compose the music, while Sri Nagendra Tangala serves as the production designer.

Meanwhile, Prasanth Varma is actively working on his project with Nandamuri Mokshagna, titled Simba. This film is said to be inspired by an ancient legend from Hindu mythology. However, details regarding the PVCU project are currently being kept under wraps by the filmmakers.
