In the world of Indian cinema, the name “Jawan” has become synonymous with success. The Shah Rukh Khan starrer, now in its fifth week, has achieved yet another remarkable milestone by becoming the most-watched Indian film of the year. Directed by Atlee, “Jawan” has not only won the hearts of audiences but has also shattered records along the way.
According to a report published on the trade website Silk, “Jawan” has recorded a staggering 3.50 crores of footfalls in India across all versions in just 32 days. This remarkable achievement solidifies its position as the biggest film of 2023 in India. While “Jawan” claims the top spot, it is closely followed by “Pathaan” and “Gadar 2,” which have also left their mark on the Indian film landscape.
But what exactly are these “footfalls,” and how do they differ from traditional Box Office collections? Footfalls represent the actual number of people who have visited cinema halls to watch a particular film. This metric goes beyond the mere number of tickets sold, as it provides insight into the real success of a movie by measuring the headcount it attracts to theatres. In other words, footfalls are a true reflection of a film’s popularity among the audience.
“Jawan” has not only set a new record in terms of footfalls but has also achieved remarkable numbers at the Indian Box Office. After its 33-day run, the film has amassed a staggering figure of Rs 625 crore nett, with a gross collection of approximately Rs 745 crore. These numbers further cement “Jawan” as the biggest Bollywood film of all time.
“Pathaan,” which had previously held the title of the most-watched movie of the year, closely trails “Jawan” with a footfall of 3.49 crores, including an impressive 3.33 crore from the Hindi-speaking audience alone. Following suit is Sunny Deol’s “Gadar 2: The Katha Continues,” which drew in 3.41 crore moviegoers to theatres. Rajinikanth’s “Jailer” also made its mark with an approximate footfall of 2.80 crores this year.
As “Jawan” continues its successful run in theatres, it basks in the glory of these new records. However, the world of Indian cinema is dynamic, and it’s only a matter of time until another SRK starrer graces the screens, vying for the throne. Keep an eye on the upcoming release “Dunki,” set for Christmas this year, as it is expected to challenge “Jawan” at the Box Office, just as it did with “Pathaan.” Stay tuned for the latest updates on the Box Office battle and the ever-evolving world of Indian cinema.
