In a bid to transport audiences back to the Madras Presidency of the 1940s, the makers of the upcoming Kalyanram-starrer, “Devil,” have left no stone unturned. The film, which sees the actor take on the role of a British secret agent, promises an authentic period setting, and they’re achieving this through a unique blend of visuals and sound.
Director Abhishek Nama has revealed that they’ve imported a treasure trove of vintage musical instruments to ensure that the film’s music complements the historical narrative. Their efforts have already paid off with the recent release of the song “Maaya Chesave,” featuring Kalyanram and Samyuktha Menon. The song’s success can be attributed to its authentic period feel and captivating melody.
One of the standout features of the music production for “Devil” is the use of traditional instruments sourced from various countries. Drums and percussion instruments such as the Djembe, Bongo, Duff drums, Congo drums, and even an hourglass-shaped Talking Drum have been meticulously chosen to add depth and richness to the soundtrack.The visual grandeur of the film is equally impressive, with scenes shot in traditional South Indian houses and palatial mansions, including the historic Kanadukathan Palace in Karaikudi.
