Anushka Shetty Breaks Silence on Her Hiatus Post-Baahubali

In a recent candid conversation with The Indian Express, the luminary Anushka Shetty, who enthralled audiences with her riveting portrayal of Devasena in the magnum opus Baahubali directed by SS Rajamouli, elucidated the rationale behind her conscious decision to momentarily step away from pan-India projects, opting instead to immerse herself in Tamil and Telugu cinema.

Following her monumental success in Baahubali, Shetty was seen gracing the silver screen in the 2018 Telugu thriller Bhaagamathie, followed by a notable appearance in the bilingual OTT release, Nishabdham, in 2020. During her interview, Shetty candidly revealed, “Post Baahubali, I was engrossed in fulfilling my commitment with Bhaagamathie, after which I felt an intrinsic need to take a respite. This hiatus was a deliberate choice, a period I deemed necessary to rejuvenate and be fully present for my upcoming ventures. I am aware that this move is somewhat unprecedented, diverging from the normative expectations in the industry. While I cannot pinpoint a definitive reason, I felt a strong desire to take a break. During this period, I refrained from engaging with new scripts, allowing myself the space to breathe and prepare for exciting opportunities that may come my way, irrespective of the language.”

In a delightful turn of events, Shetty has graced the big screen once again, showcasing her prowess in the recently released Telugu romantic drama, “Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty”. Under the adept direction of Mahesh Babu, the film, which also features the talented Naveen Polishetty, sees Shetty embracing the role of a chef. The film has been met with a warm reception, garnering positive accolades from critics and audiences alike.
