Actor and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s son, Mark Shankar Pawanovich, sustained injuries in a school fire that occurred in Singapore last week. Both the actor and his son have since returned to India. Following her son’s recovery, Pawan Kalyan’s wife, Anna Lezhneva, visited the Tirumala temple, where she performed the traditional head tonsuring ritual as a gesture of gratitude.
On April 13, Anna Lezhneva visited the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala, where she offered prayers and participated in sacred rituals. As an act of devotion, she donated her hair at the Padmavati Kalyana Katta — a dedicated area within the temple complex where devotees fulfill vows through head tonsuring. Following the ritual, Anna Lezhneva was also seen taking part in additional pujas and religious ceremonies within the temple premises.

On April 8, a fire broke out at a shophouse located on River Valley Road in Singapore. Among those injured in the incident was Pawan Kalyan’s eight-year-old son, Mark Shankar. He suffered burns to his hands and legs and experienced respiratory issues due to smoke inhalation. Emergency services, including the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), quickly responded to the scene to contain the blaze and assist the injured.
At the time of the incident, Pawan Kalyan—actor and Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh—was on an official tour in the Alluri Sitarama Raju district, engaging with local communities. Upon receiving the news, he promptly wrapped up his commitments and flew to Singapore to be by his son’s side. He was accompanied by his elder brother, actor Chiranjeevi.
“Our youngest son, Mark Shankar, was injured in a school fire in Singapore and is being treated in hospital. He is gradually recovering.”
He expressed his gratitude to the many politicians, actors, and well-wishers who reached out and offered prayers for Mark’s recovery, as well as those who conducted poojas in his name across various temples.
Following the unfortunate fire incident at my son Mark Shankar’s summer camp in Singapore, I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, concern, and support from all-over the world.
I wholeheartedly thank leaders from various political parties, @JanaSenaParty leaders,…

“Our baby Mark Shankar has come home. But he still needs to recover. With the grace and mercy of our clan deity, Anjaneya Swamy, he will soon be fully healthy and back to normal. Tomorrow is Hanuman Jayanti, and that Lord stood by us, saving that little child from great danger and tragedy.”
