Akshay Kumar Set for Tollywood Debut in Vishnu Manchu’s Epic “Kannappa”

Industry circles are buzzing with excitement as Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar joins the star-studded cast of Vishnu Manchu’s ambitious venture, “Kannappa.” The fantasy drama, steeped in mythology, revolves around the fervent devotion of its titular character towards Lord Shiva. This marks a significant milestone for Akshay Kumar, as he steps into the world of Telugu cinema for the first time.

The announcement of Akshay Kumar’s involvement in the project was made by industry tracker Ramesh Bala on X. He tweeted, “Bollywood Superstar @akshaykumar joins the cast of Prestigious Pan-India Biggie – Actor @iVishnuManchu’s Big Budget movie #Kannappa. While this marks Akshay Kumar’s debut in Tollywood, it’s not his first foray into South Indian cinema. The versatile actor previously appeared in the bilingual film “Ashaant” in 1993, released in Kannada as “Vishnu Vijaya.” Later, in 2018, he made his Tamil debut in Shankar’s blockbuster “2.0” alongside Rajinikanth. “Kannappa” will be his third venture in South Indian cinema, showcasing his pan-Indian appeal.

Star-Studded Cast of “Kannappa”

“Kannappa” boasts an ensemble cast drawn from various film industries. Alongside Vishnu Manchu and his father, the esteemed actor Mohan Babu, the film features a galaxy of stars including Prabhas, Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Madhoo, Sarathkumar, Prabhu Deva, Brahmanandam, Mukesh Rishi, Kaushal Manda, and more. With music by Stephen Devassy and Mani Sharma, cinematography by Sheldon Chau, and editing by Anthony, the film promises to be a visual extravaganza.

About “Kannappa”

“Kannappa” is a passion project for Vishnu Manchu, with production helmed by Mohan Babu under AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory. Vishnu penned the screenplay, inspired by a story crafted by Paruchuri Gopala Krishna, Eshwar Reddy, G Nageswara Reddy, and Thota Prasad. Shot originally in Telugu, the film will be dubbed into other South Indian languages and Hindi, aiming for a pan-Indian audience.
